The WIKI is out of date, OpenSkywalking is providing documents in /docs in repository, since 3.2.5

Skywalking is an APM, application performance monitor, specially for mircro-service and Cloud Native architecture system. It collects all necessary metrics automatically, and also does distributed tracing. Through those traces and metrics, Skywalking detects the relationships among applications and services, aggregates the metrics about them.
